Matali Crasset is an industrial designer by training.
Her work was established in the 1990s as a rejection of pure form. It is conceived as a research in motion, made up of hypotheses rather than principles. It is inspired by eclectic worlds: from crafts to electronic music, from the textile industry to fair trade.
Her creations have taken her to areas she never suspected, from scenography to furniture, from graphics to interior architecture.
Some of her creations are present in many public exposition in France (Centre Pompidou, Musée des arts décoratifs de Paris...) but also abroad (at MoMa, Art Institute Chicago, Indianapolis Museum of Art...)
